The Landed Eagle opens at The Brewery Quarter

A NEW CHAPTER FOR CHELTENHAM: INTRODUCING THE LANDED EAGLE

A locally rooted pub inspired by one of Cheltenham's mostfamous sporting stories.

A bold new pub concept is arriving in Cheltenham with the launch of The Landed Eagle, a welcoming neighbourhood pub inspired by one of Britain's most iconic underdog stories and a beer that has become a firm favourite with guests.

The Landed Eagle has been created with its own distinctive identity, rooted in its location and designed to feel independent, characterful and genuinely connected to the community it serves. The concept celebrates Cheltenham's unique place in sporting history while bringing together great food, exceptional drinks andmemorable experiences in a modern pub setting.

Inspired by Cheltenham's Most Famous Eagle

If you were asked to name what Great Britain is famous for, you might answer David Beckham, fish and chips, Big Ben, red buses, tea, real ale or The Beatles. Ski jumping probably would not make the list.

Yet, for one unforgettable moment in sporting history, Britain and ski jumping captured the world’s attention. In 1988, Cheltenham-born Michael ‘Eddie the Eagle’ Edwards won the hearts of millions at the Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada. Despite finishing last, his determination, courage and never-give-up attitude earned him worldwide admiration. Eddie became a much-loved symbol of perseverance, resilience and British determination, inspiring the 2016 film Eddie the Eagle, starring Taron Egerton as Eddie and Hugh Jackman as his coach.

The pub takes its name from our much-loved Landed Eagle Traditional Porter, a beer originally brewed in honour of Britain's most famous ski jumper. Rich, distinctive and full of character, the porter celebrates Eddie's remarkable achievement and the enduring affection people continue to hold for his story. That same spirit of individuality and local pride has now inspired the pub's new identity.

Brewing Heritage at its Heart

While the pub's name is changing, its brewery remains at the centre of everything it does. The Landed Eagle will continue brewing fresh craft beer on site through Brewhouse Brewing Co. (BBCo), creating beers just metres from where they are enjoyed. Alongside its own range, guests can expect seasonal brews, limited editions and collaboration beers celebrating the creativity and craftsmanship of modern brewing.

The Landed Eagle reflects a renewed commitment to creating a pub authentically connected to Cheltenham, where great beer, quality food, warm hospitality and local stories come together.
